Projects and Startups

I’ve always loved ideating and working on solving problems that cause pain to me, my family or friends. Here are some of them that I worked on and learnt a ton. Did earn some money too :)

Ticket Marketplace - UA

While I was a student at MSRIT, we saw the need for a college specific event marketplace as we started building it, we came to realise our user’s needs were far beyond just an event marketplace(they got to know of event’s through first or second degree connections, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp). There did not exist a platform to buy tickets for college events (think of it as Eventbrite for college) in India and built it ground up.

The early team:
Abhilash Kishore
Arjun Rao
Amol Walvekar

SMS API for Events

Built SMS API’s to communicate custom event specific information pre-event, during the event and post event.

Acquired an 1000+ footfall international parliamentary debate event - CSV to SMS

Filter for Events

Built India’s first - community event filter on Snapchat for college events. Had 750 video stories, 1600 picture stories on the first event in 2016.

P.S: Even though event filters required us to pay Snapchat we overcame it by calling it a community filter

x86 based Score Board

With legacy infrastructure at Sree Kanteerava Stadium - there was no digital score board for football games present then. Hacked up a x86 based scoreboard for Bangalore City’s football club. The stadium see’s a footfall of 30,000 plus people each game and today they scoreboard is digital and managed by sports bodies, I’m proud of the work we did for this.

Mobile App Attribution Analytics

Worked on product, marketing for uninstall mobile app attribution for a startup

Street Food Wiki

Worked on product and content for a crowd-sourced wiki - mobile based android app to discover street food vendors in Bangalore. Scaled to 4 cities in India.

MSFT Ventures

  3. White Papers on IoT and Fintech in South Asia - along with Tech In Asia

File Converter

Worked to productize a file converter built for internal files for the department of ISE in India

File Migration using SP Theory of Intelligence

“We have way too much data, most of it is repeat” - Knowledge worker handling digital files for the ID Registration

We built the entire full stack solution to eliminate the problem of data redundancy in file storage systems in higher educational institutes and government departments in India. We used AI to scan every file during upload and alerted the user if the file exists already and directs them to the location of the file in the cloud.

Loved working on this
1. Learnt a ton about building products - user research, UI and UX
2. AES encryption to ensure privacy of information in the file
3. Thought of making it as an API only - either many gov, higher ed institutes don’t have dedicated developers for this or the knowledge works have a high churn in their roles, so it wasn’t a solution easy to sell.

Worked along with

  2. Kethaki Ashwin

  3. Nikhil Nair

Stanford Crowd Research Collective
